Hi Aerialists!
Congratulations on your new purchase of aerial bungee! Please read the information below thoroughly to understand how to care for and use your new products.
Bungee Install Guide:
Bungee fitness is a fun, gravity-defying sport for any age. To make the most of your product:
- Ensure you have a load-bearing beam. Check with a builder or rigger to confirm that your beam can bear weight.
- Have a mounting point or alternative professionally installed to ensure safety.
- Ensure you have chosen the right bungee for your weight.
- Using the daisy chains provided, attach them to your mounting point. From there, use a carabiner to clip onto the daisy chains, followed by a swivel, and then attach the screw-lock carabiner from the bungee cord and tighten securely. Don’t attach to the harness at this point.
- Stand next to the cord. The base of the cord should sit at your waist. If it’s too high or low, adjust the daisy chains accordingly to find the perfect height. If used in classes, this will need to be adjusted for each user.
- Put on the harness and ensure it’s tightened securely. Clip the auto-lock carabiner on the cord to the point on the back of the harness. Test to ensure the height is correct.
As with all equipment, there is ongoing maintenance. Your safety is our absolute priority, BUT once you receive your product, maintenance is out of our hands and up to you. It should always be your priority to care for your equipment. We can’t stress this enough – aerial sports are dangerous – PLEASE ALWAYS BE SAFE WHILE FLYING!
1. Check your fabric, hardware, and rigging points before EVERY use.
It may seem excessive, but it is essential. Things to check:
• Are there any points on your cord or harness that are damaged? • Does your hardware have any cracks, damage, or rust? • Does your hardware work correctly (swivel spins cleanly, carabiners screw securely, etc.)? • Does your sling, rope, or daisy chains have any frays or splits? (Especially check around rigging points where they may rub.)
If any of the above are present, DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT! You’ll need to replace the damaged product before use.
Before using your bungee, check:
• Is your bungee rigged and installed correctly, tightly, and securely? • Is your rigging point structurally suitable and approved by a registered builder? • Are your rope, sling, or chains attached securely so they won’t slip? • Are you aware of the load ratings and maximum loading of your bungee, attachments, and rigging point? • Do you have an approved crash mat underneath you in case of a fall? • Do you have another person present? (Never train alone!) • If you are not a professional, do you have a qualified teacher overseeing your rigging and training?
After using your bungee:
• Always take it down and remove hardware after you’ve finished, even if it’s just for a few hours! This ensures a new check for next time, prevents slings, ropes, or fabric from weakening due to sunlight, and keeps your equipment from getting wet or rusted. This also ensures you’ll check your equipment’s safety before each use (e.g., carabiners are tightly secured) and avoids the risk of others (children, friends) using your equipment without understanding safety. • Store indoors in a dry area, preferably airtight, to avoid mould, mildew, weather damage, moths, etc. • Keep hardware away from salt, sand, dirt, and rain.
2. Ongoing Maintenance
While checking your equipment before each use is crucial, ongoing maintenance is also required to ensure your equipment remains safe.
• We recommend replacing your bungee every 12 months or as soon as any damage occurs.
If you ever have any safety concerns about your products or notice any damages or issues, discontinue use immediately. Never risk your safety. Many situations could arise from inconsistent checks and maintenance while up in the air, and we want you to stay as safe as possible.
Happy flying! We’re excited to see you on your new bungee!
